Chamisa Elementary Speaks at Los Alamos School Board Meeting!!
Mrs. Hettinga and 5 Global Warming Express students attended the school board meeting this past Tuesday evening, Feb. 13th. They went to support the high school Eco Club with their resolution of, “Commitment to Renewable Energy and Electrification” presented to the school board. The 5 students in attendance were: Ruby , Araba , Addy, Sophie, and Dorian (not pictured). Four of the students gave brief speeches in support of this resolution; Ruby, Araba, Addy & Sophie. These speeches focused on three main points of school purchasing solar panels, getting more electric school buses and lastly changing the heating systems to heat pumps to be more efficient. The resolution did not get voted on by the board, but it has lots of support by the board members. The Global Warming Express club will continue to work with the high school EcoClub this year in order to hopefully see some of these items included while building the new Chamisa school!!
