The Global Warming Express has mentorship opportunities available immediately for college and high school students to work with 4th through 8th graders in Santa Fe in one or all of three general areas:

Communications

We need older students who are experienced with website design and social media to guide members of our Kids’ Board of Directors in communicating the organization’s activities to the public. The kids will also be developing a Virtual Clubhouse on our website (www.theglobalwarmingexpress.org) where they can share stories and initiatives with kids all over the world. This involves writing, photography, art & design, and media strategy.

Teaching

We need older students to work with kids in our after-school programs around the city to help them learn about the science behind global warming, to develop sustainability initiatives appropriate for their communities, and to advocate for themselves. Most club chapters meet every one or two weeks.

Performance

Perhaps you have seen the kids in blue T-shirts singing and dancing around town? One of our most effective advocacy tools is performance, and the GWE kids are invited to appear at events all over Santa Fe. We need older students with a love of performance to help them develop new songs during the after-school programs and at other times.

So, if you are passionate about the environment and like to work with kids, please  contact Genie Stevens by November 15, 2014, at genie@theglobalwarmingexpress. Stipends may be available for qualified students.
