Manzano Mesa Elementary Plants local, drought-resistant trees for Earth Day!

Jun 11, 2024 | Community Support, Events

On Earth Day, GWE students at Manzano Mesa Elementary in Albuquerque met with someone from the Urban and Community Forestry program. The visitor taught the students about local, drought-tolerant trees and instructed them as they planted the trees in their school’s outdoor learning area.

The students at Manzano Mesa have researched different animal habitats. Next year, they plan to expand their outdoor learning area by building bee, bird, and bat houses and planting flowers to attract pollinators.
