Raton GWE students take a trip to their local recycling center!
Four of Raton’s GWE students, Leroy, Bentley, Riley, and Skyler went to the Raton recycling center where Public Works director Jason Phillips gave them a tour and explained how to sort recyclables and how the materials were processed. Before going to the center, the kids tested the difference between aluminum and tin cans using magnets.
The GWEers told Mr. Phillips about their Big Goal to put recycling bins at Raton Intermediate School, and he offered to have city staff pick up the bins to empty them at the recycling center. They will continue to pursue their goal next year with the new connections they’ve made!
