Over the past two years, the Global Warming Expressers at Raton Middle School have achieved their Big Goal getting the city of Raton to pick up recycling from their school! On Feb. 28, 2026, this year’s Raton Global W.E. Kids did a tour of the recycling center to learn, themselves, about what the kids from last year learned. In this photo, the kids are looking at a trash container which is filled with plastics which should be recycled, but which, Jason Philips, Raton’s Deputy City Manager explains to them, were mixed up with non-recyclable items in people’s recycle bins, and now all of them have to be thrown way, instead of being recycled!!!!! 🙁
